Gas Springs Forces

Gas springs are designed to relieve and compensate totally or partially the weight of moving parts.

Gas springs are suitable for all purposes and have unlimited application possibilities in Buses, Cars, Lorries, Trailers, Agricultural machinery, Windows, Aeroplanes, Trains, Smoke outlet hoods, Seats, Beds, Photocopy machines, Sky lights, Emergency Exits, turning and lowering of all kinds of equipment.

We are also producing Height adjustment units, hand or electrically driven, which are suitable for many purposes, such as Desks, Work places, CAD tables, Machines.

The Gas spring consists of a pressure cylinder (filled with Nitrogen and oil) in which slides a piston-rod sub-assembly. The self-contained pressured gas generates an axial force on the cylinder-rod system, making the whole device work as a compression spring. The rod speed is always under control with added dampening effect near the end of the rod extension stroke. Fittings on rod side (welded or screwed) or thread ends.

Forces are measured at 10 mm of the stroke ends (at 5 mm for strokes < 50 mm). Gas Springs are progressive. The difference between Force F1 at the close end of the extension stroke and F4 at the end of the inward stroke in % is:

The progressiveness of Airax Gas Springs:

6/15 = F1 + 27 %

8/20 = F1 + 25%

10/22 = F1 + 33 %

14/28 = F1 + 45 %

The progressiveness of Anemo Gas- Push- Springs:.

4/12 = F1 + 19 %

6/15 = F1 + 27 %

8/19 = F1 + 33 %

10/23 = F1 + 33 %

10/28 = F1 + 21 %

12/25 = F1 + 42 %

14/28 = F1 + 52 %

14/35 = F1 + 28 %

14/40-42 = F1 + 17 %

20/35 = F1 + 80 %

20/40-42 = F1 + 45 %

20/45 = F1 + 33 %

30/60 = F1 + 40 %

30/65 = F1 + 33 %

40/100 = F1 + 25 %

The progressiveness of Anemo Gas- Pull- Springs:

6/19 = F1 + 33 %

8/23 = F1 + 26 %

10/28 = F1 + 36 %

14/40-42 F1 + 42 %

It is possible with a combination of different constructions, strokelengths and diameters from Gas Springs limiting the progressiveness. We can advise you.

Tolerances in Force are:

F1 20N till 50N +/- 10 Newton

F1 50N till 250N +/- 20 Newton

F1 250N till 750N +/- 30 Newton

F1 750N till 1500N +/- 50 Newton

F1 1500N till 2500N +/- 100 Newton

F1 2500N and above +/- 250 Newton

Tolerances in Length from Gas Springs +/- 2 mm.
