How to select a coupling

1. Temperature: What’s your minimum and maximum temperature range. Standard temperature tolerances range from 0° C to 70°C for polyprop and -40°C to 82°C for acetal ; what’s the peak temperature and for how long?
2. Pressure: What is the maximum pressure your connection will need to withstand during operation? Plastic couplings are used up to 8 bar.
3. Media: the corrosiveness of the fluid going through the coupling needs to be considered.  Choose as a consequence the material of your coupling and the O-ring: BUNA-N or EPDM
4. Shutoff Options: Do you need shutoff valves? Shutoff options are single or double.
5. Flow: Typical size of the coupling 1/8 ; 1/4 ; 1/2 , take into account that a valve restricts the flow.
6. Tubing: What size is the tubing, 1/8 ; 1/4 ; 3/16 ; 5/16 ; 3/8 ; 1/2
7. Mounting Options: threaded, panel mount, in-line
8. Special Requirements: Sterilization, disinfectant, other configuration.
